Not Good With Words

(John McGie/Jon Lundquist)

NOT GOOD WITH WORDS

I look around
And see that you’re with me
On this cool September morn
Our baby held within your arms
Her mother’s love
Keeping her safe and warm

The sun is rising
Through our kitchen window
I get up and put the coffee on
Everyday I wake up in wonder
I grab the guitar
And I write this song

I’m not that good with words
Funny thing is
All the songs I’ve heard
Never say what’s close to my heart
Like peanut butter
And dogs that go bark
Like holding hands
And a walk in the park
Like watching that movie
About that really big shark
Like those Christmas angels
That always go 'hark'
Like not being embarrassed
By a really loud fart
Like singing this song
But my favorite part
Is you
I love you
Lots
La la la

I look around
And see that you are still sleeping
I plug the amp
Into my guitar
I turn it up
Till our ears are bleeding
I love you so much
Won’t you hum along?
